test blog update here.

start point

  • I got nothing to lose to build my own build, deploy blog.
  • never tried to build the whole service and look down on things I can do.

first step

  • build frontend using nextjs
  • get the shadcn ui to use the stylish component
  • started from mdx/md file rendered blog posts.

second step

  • build the nest js backend to fix the problems from mdx/md file rendering.
  • connect mongodb atlas to save the contents
  • seeding mongodb from json converted from md files.
  • add feature to use mongodb, redis

third step

  • build composer using vite, tanstack router
  • composer is for content management creating/editing/delete/viewing
  • build form to create/edit content
  • add feature of uploading picture from screenshot using S3, cloudfront

pain point

  • fly.io, aws ecr ec2 ssm services are different but ci/cd was always problem.
  • perfectly works this week and next week it's broken. couldn't believe it. definitely skill issue.
  • introduce new tech stacks, redis and mongodb, not sure it's right choice or right implementation.
  • always something is broken in client side, I'm not really sure of concept about server/client side.
  • resume download using pupeeteer is a lot complicated than I thought but it was working in local but more config is required in containerized environment.

proud

  • anyway built 3 services and connected those 3 well.
  • 3/4 feature complete: search, view count, and resume download
  • using aws services, and fly io to deploy, ci cd is not perfect but is working.
  • very basic nice good cool useful designed blog.

thoughts

  • it's harder/easier than I thought.
  • boostered for building frontend with 20$ ai code editor.
  • nestjs is complicated and seperation is perfect to detect the problem occurred.
  • tanstack router will be used for my next product/project definitely
  • building frontend is painful, tailwind is helpful but ai helped to build it a lot.

questions

  • what is server side and client side?
  • what is props and state?
  • why is there so many errors when using useState, useEffect?
  • when is the right time to use fetch? in lib or in app/api
  • is there anyone/any team/any company to finish this SSR/SSG/CSR,,, ?
